Why MI: Fallout crossing 700M worldwide is amazing.

It’s so rare to find a franchise that gets better with every entry, financially and critically (besides Marvel). Mission: Impossible – Fallout just surpassed 727 million dollars worldwide! Not only is it the highest-grossing entry in the Mission: Impossible franchise but it’s the sixth highest-grossing movie of 2018. Not only are those achievements are amazing but this can be considered a milestone for many reasons.

For Original Filmmaking

The most successful movies nowadays are considered “CGI-fests”. This is proven by the fact that Avengers: Infinity War made 2 Billion dollars and is the highest-grossing movie of 2018. Understandably, those movies use a lot of CGI, they have to.  Fallout was the breather movie-goers needed from the over-population of these so-called “CGI-fests”. More and more people are craving these types of movies. Movies with practical effects, amazing stunt-work, real locations and dedication.

For the Action Genre

When Mad Max: Fury Road came out it made a bit more than half the money Fallout made but then again Fury Road wasn’t for everyone. Similar to the last point I made, people want to see more pure action which has little to do with CGI. Not only did Fallout deliver on that but it was also supported by a lot of other boosts. A great cast, a memorable score, likeable characters we care for and a great eye for detail and chronology. This movie is a celebration of stunt-work, dedication for filmmaking and the action genre and the fact that it’s as successful as it is is a celebration in itself.

For Paramount

For a company that before this year was mostly known for the Transformers movie, 2018 was a great year for Paramount. With the success of A Quiet Place and MI: Fallout, Paramount could be looking at a new era for them. With the almost guaranteed sequel to Fallout and the official sequels to both Top Gun and A Quiet Place, I think it’s safe to say that Paramount is slowly but surely making a comeback.

For Tom Cruise

Lastly, this is some awesome news for Tom Cruise, who not only stars in the movie but also produces it. This couldn’t happen to a better guy, he is one of the hardest working and most dedicated people working in Hollywood. Fallout is his highest-grossing movie, as in a movie he’s been in. It’s usually a bit rare for a Hollywood icon to stay relevant throughout the years and Cruise did with style. Can’t wait to see what Ethan Hunt has prepared for him next!

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is in cinemas now.
