As we near the halfway point of the second season of ‘The Mandalorian’, we find Mando and The Child finally deliver the Frog Lady and her babies to her husband. As his ship gets repaired and The Child gets babysat, Mando meets a group of Mandalorians and he joins them on a heist to steal a ship from Moff Gideon’s Empire. ‘Chapter 11: The Heiress’ is directed by Bryce Dallas Howard.

After last week’s horrifying episode, I was excited for a new Mandalorian episode which I could fully enjoy. I have little to no idea about the premise of each episode so there’s always that sense of excitement and wonder thinking where this show will take us next. This week we we braved the seas and went on a pretty spectacular heist with some pretty spectacular characters. Yes, this week we get a taste of seeing the worlds of ‘The Clone Wars’ and ‘Rebels’ bleed into the world of ‘The Mandalorian‘ as Bo-Katan Kryze makes her debut in live-action and the transition is oh so exciting.

When it comes to ‘.l'[;/p-Star Wars’, I’m a fan but I am only now just starting to delve into the franchise beyond the movies. I am currently watching ‘The Clone Wars’ and even though Bo-Katan has yet to appear, I have seen clips and images of her and seeing her in live-action even got me excited, let alone fans who have seen the shows. Her character made quite the first impression for me, I can’t wait to see what her role is in ‘The Clone Wars’ and ‘Rebel’s. Other than that let’s talk about this episode!

This week’s episode was pretty short, in fact I think it’s the shortest one this season standing at a rough half-hour. It did start out pretty average for the show, for me the episode picked up after Bo-Katan was introduced. I loved seeing The Child acting cute and not endangering species although I do think it might actually come into play later. When he got snatched by that sea creature, I gasped out loud and that rarely happens. Speaking of that scene, they really keep doing such a great job of utilizing every location as much as possible. I swear, I think of ‘Game of Thrones’ at least once when watching an episode of ‘The Mandalorian’ because I really do think that this show does present this universe through such a wide and grand lens.

As for the heist itself, the show manages to keep it entertaining and exciting throughout. I’m not the biggest fan of heist episodes but this one works for me. I love how it felt like a much smaller-case version of ‘Rogue One‘. I love how badass this team is, they are literally busting through doors, unharmed and unphased and taking stormtroopers down. It turns out Bo-Katan is on the hunt for Moff Gideon, more specifically Gideon’s Darksaber. While she doesn’t get the information she needed she did get control of the entire ship and gave Mando directions to Ashoka freaking Tano. I mean I knew she was confirmed for this season but hearing her name in a live-action Star Wars show still blows my mind.

What’s interesting to me is that runtime of these episodes. The Season 2 Premiere was around an hour long which I didn’t mind, last week’s episode felt too long for me considering how much I hate spiders but this week’s episode was too short. Honestly, I have to say that it did not satisfy my weekly Mando dose. I expected more and even though what I got was good, there wasn’t a whole lot of it. It even shocked me to see that it barely trended yesterday on Twitter where as both the show and ‘Baby Yoda’ trended pretty well last week and the week before. Watching the show weekly does change my expectation of every episode and while I still don’t mind the occasional filler, I do want more out of each episode, at least minimal contribution to the plot. I really do hope next week’s episode is something special, it is the halfway point after all!
