Trailer Thoughts 5

Not a lot of trailers have been coming out lately since there was that week not long ago where there was a ton of them and since Comic-Con is just around the corner, Hollywood is waiting to release the big trailers at that event. However the ones that did come out were promoting mostly smaller movies. I will start with my most anticipated release going down to my least anticipated.

Beautiful Boy: I am a huge fan of Timothee Chalamet and Steve Carell so that alone was enough to sell this movie, to me at least. Already the trailer promises an emotional story about a drug-addict son and his father is trying to get him to get his life on track again. Jack Dylan Grazer from IT is playing a younger version of Chalamet’s character so that’s another bonus. The trailer alone got me chocked up so I can imagine what the film does. I really love stories which are rich with emotion so that’s why this is at the top.

Mandy: I saw the trailer knowing nothing and I finished the trailer knowing a bit more than nothing. I do know for a fact that this looks like a revolutionary movie for the horror and action genre. When the shot with the forest drowned in red lighting came, I physically moved back but I immediately was so intrigued and gobsmacked by how beautiful it looks. The cinematography and colours are used very well and they are effective, red means danger and it’s a striking colour so you are already on edge, a brilliant move. This looks like it’ll be the Blade Runner of horror and action. Loved by critics and gains a cult following over the years. I really want to see this movie.

I Am The Night: Loved the work of Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins on Wonder Woman so I was intrigued by this. It looks interesting, I can’t say whether it’ll be good or not but it’s a limited event series so story won’t be that much of a problem. Something about this is telling me to watch it, I’ll definitely try it. Also an odd time to release a trailer for a shoe that doesn’t come out till January 2019!

Skyscraper: This looks like the perfect summer movie. It looks like it will have action, suspense, heart and a lot of fun and it’s rated PG-13, so everyone can see it. That right there is pure summer blockbuster material and if Skyscraper has all those, it’ll be a definite hit. It looks like fun so I might check it out but I don’t do well with heights so I have a sort of dilemma here.

The House with a Clock in it’s Walls: I actually really liked the teaser so I went and saw the trailer which was a huge mistake. This new trailer changed the way I felt about this movie. It looks like a bad children’s movie instead of a good family film. I love Jack Black and Cate Blanchett but I don’t know about this one, hopefully I’ll be proven wrong because Halloween needs more family movies because besides Goosebumps, Hotel Transylvania and Hocus Pocus what’s left? Probably a few more but there just needs to be more, especially since the horror genre is at the top of it’s game right now.

Which one of these movies are you excited for?
